Kira x Feo

In May 2016, I had the immense pleasure of finally collaborating with one of my favourite artists, the Toronto-based Kira Buro. We had been throwing around ideas of a joint project for a while, be it a graphic novel or a picture book, but Kira x Feo turned out to be our first go at working together. 

I've always been fascinated by body projection, the abstract nude form, and reinterpreted anatomical structures. Because of that last point, the model does not just act as a canvas for Kira's sketches; she is reinterpreted by the drawings. Ribcages and bronchioles became the branches of trees, facial musculature is replaced by roots, and boats fight capsizing on an abdominal sea.
